The Market in Guanajuato, MX

Yesterday we were able to go to Guanajuato, MX (where we used to live). We visited the indoor market and since I have never shared pictures from there before, I thought I would post a few.

This picture is taken from the upper level. (click on picture to enlarge it and see more details) There are many different kinds of stands represented here...tourist trinkets, food, misc. items, juice stands...

There are lots of fruit stands!

I really wanted to get a picture of the meat stands, but since my husband and his stomach do not get along when viewing those particular sights, I decided not to! :)

Life in our Household

This is what one does when they don't take a pie plate to MX with them, and there's not many cookware options at the house they are staying at...but, they really want a strawberry pie...

...introducing the new "Frying Pie Pan!" (hey, it worked!)

And this is what one child does for play...may I introduce you to "Goliath!" Not only does he use the bat for a sword, but also a pillow for a shield. I do believe he gets his imagination from his Dad...!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TAYLOR!

In the midst of having company and getting ready for our trip to Mexico, our little guy Taylor had a birthday (May 19th)! It's hard to believe he's two now...how time does fly! Taylor is full of life, loves animals, pretty much has a "no fear" factor, loves to eat, uses his face to express most everything, and still likes to cuddle! We are so blessed to have this little guy as part of our family. We Love You, Taylor Scott!!

Besides having my sister and grandfather to help celebrate, we also invited the Velazquez family and Morley family from our church. We ate out in front of our apartment on picnic tables...a fun time was had by all!

Thanks to Walmart for the birthday cake...I certainly didn't have time to be decorating a cake this year! And after the fiasco last year, I won't even complain about their sloppy hand writing!

Taylor blowing out the candle on his cake!

Taylor enjoying his birthday cake! Fortunately the ball that flew through the air and then landed on part of the cake didn't happen until most everybody had been served!

Taylor got some really nice gifts from everybody (Thanks also to those who sent cards!)! Here he is 'taking a spin' on his new bike from Aunt Brenda!

Misc. Pictures

Here are a few other misc. pictures from when my sister and grandfather came to visit.

My grandfather trying on a sombrero in Mexico at a tourist shop. I can't believe he allowed me to take his picture...love it though...!

Brenda and Pap at the border between U.S. and MX...standing on a bridge over the Rio Grande.

New Photos

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers...we arrived safely in Salamanca, MX late last night. It was a long and tiring day, but a smooth trip and uneventful. Continue to think of us over the next few weeks as we minister here in the church and generally fill in as needed.

Now, as promised, here a some more pictures that were taken at the Alamo in San Antonio. We were pleased to be able to visit there when my sister and grandfather came to visit. It was beautiful and sunny while we were taking pictures, but just 1 hour later, it was pouring down the rain. Needless to say, we totally got drenched walking the few blocks back to our vehicle!!

Taylor really enjoyed spending time with his "Pappy Ranck"...and I think the feeling was mutual :)

Kyle loves his Aunt Brenda!

Thanks to my sister who took most of these pictures!
(And if you haven't seen it already, check out this really cute picture of Taylor she took!)

Traveling...

Would you please pray for us today? We are making the long trip into Central Mexico to fill in at the Salamanca church for approximately three weeks until their national pastor arrives.

We would appreciate your thoughts and prayers for our safety, traveling protection, and a smooth journey.

Until we have internet connection again, hopefully the picture below will tide you over...this is a family pic my sister took while at the Alamo in San Antonio. I've got lots of other great pictures to share, but they'll have to wait!

She's Back!!

It's so good to have my sister here to visit again...and this time she brought our grandfather!!! The boys were very excited to see them both! We have lots of great things planned, including a mini trip to San Antonio and a super-mini trip to a tourist border town in MX. Continue to check the blog for updates and pictures.

(Don't you just love my grandfather's baby blue eyes?)
Also, you can keep up with our happenings on my sister's blog.

It Was a Good Day...

Okay...so I'm a little belated on reporting the happenings from this past Sunday...but you'll forgive me, right???!!!

I had a wonderful Mother's Day! I am blessed! Below is a picture of me and my little boys who are growing up very quickly!! (please excuse the half-shut eyelids, but this was the best picture...)

Also, for about two weeks this month, we are privileged to fill in at church while the Junod's are away. This past Sunday, Michael prepared his second-ever sermon in Spanish and preached it. It was a Mother's Day sermon, and he did very well! Actually, he led the whole service in Spanish and did an excellent job!

Many

Expressions!

A few more events happening this month:

:: My sister and grandfather are coming down to spend a week with us...arriving the 13th.

:: We are making a trip to Salamanca, Mexico the end of the month for two weeks. We will be filling in down there until their permament pastor arrives the beginning of June. Keep us in your prayers for (1) traveling protection, (2) Michael as he prepares for several services...all in Spanish, and (3) the church people who will be going through a time of adjustment.

Let's Get Together...

This past weekend, we were privileged to spend some time with fellow missionaries, the Sankey's! Head on over to their blog to see some pictures from our time together!
